A quick test to check that I can line the synthesizer bass-line up for my music video.

I almost bid on this synth today. I have an Alesis Micron, though, so it seemed a bit like overlap.

I think the Micron is probably better than the MicroKorg. I don't really use the MicroKorg though, this is my baby: flickr.com/photos/thedeadlydeaths/533967546/

I found it about a year and a half ago. If you ever find one I suggest you buy it :)

For real, the MS20 is awesome. Did you get a good price on it? I'm thinking of spending $1000 on a cool, old analog at some point.

The Micron makes some crazy sounds, but it can't hit super-high frequencies due to its digital nature.

Yeah, I got it for about $1100 NZD (just under $800 US). I never really used any of my synths that often until I got my MS20. It has a few tuning problems that we need to fix when we record, nothing too major though (and we probably don't really need to fix them). And I kind of like the fact that it's not perfect.

What sort of music do you play/make? Are you in a group?

I just mess around. At this point I doubt I will ever have a "musical career" to speak of, although I have played live with a couple groups. Here's some noise I made:

    I just like making sounds.

Cool. I like experimental music (or "noise art" or whatever people call it these days). One of my old lecturers used to make experimental music compilation CDs that were quite cool.

It reminds me a little of a local group call Ministry Of Hypocrisy. They played at a recent gig and apparently played a "cover" of hundreds of local tunes (basically it was a growing wall of noise of sampled bits of all the songs). It was quite cool to watch.
