EARL PERTNOY was born on July 11, 1926, and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on January 18, 2009. Exquisitely devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor and friend. Predeceased by his parents Geraldine and Louis Pertnoy and the love of his life, Civie. Adored father of Lois Weingarden, Nadine and Sidney Pertnoy, Ronnie Pertnoy and Sandi and Joe Blumenstein. Cherished "Pop-Pop" to Melissa and Scott Weingarden, Amy and Michael Jellson, Jenny and Brett Kandell, Josh Pertnoy, Lori Weingarden, Brooke Pertnoy, Michael Pertnoy, Alison Blumenstein, Jeffrey Pertnoy and Casey Blumenstein. Beloved great-grandfather to Dylan and Jesse Weingarden and Logan and Hayden Jellson, and soon to be great-granddaughter, Baby Kandell. Earl, along with Irvin Shapiro and Dave Miller, founded The Baron's men's store chain. Earl was devoted to many philanthropic endeavors including Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Jewish Home and Hospital, Temple Emanu-El and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. Earl was an astute businessman having served until his death on the board of several banks and other institutions. Pop Pop, "Our antennas will always be up."
