A television commercial for Charter Communications, the nation’s fourth-largest cable provider.
One of the more difficult aspects of the project was finding an existing Charter subscriber whose suburban home met the required conditions, which included projection-friendly architecture, a non-descript landscape and the absence of light pollution at night. The team scouted hundreds of homes before selecting a final location.
The chosen location was re-created as a virtual, three-dimensional model onto which the production team mapped and perfected two-dimensional animations prior to the actual shoot.
After 40 days of pre-production, the entire commercial was filmed in a single night using a motor home, a 20,000-lumen projector, and a 10 person crew that was filled out by Monogram’s unique post-on-set capabilities that include color grading, editing and 3D mapping FX.
