Leads: Rosina Chia and Elmer Poe, with assistance from Keith Landa

Summary: This session will begin with an examination of course issues that arise when evaluating student work on GNLE courses. Workshop leaders will share the approaches to and experiences with evaluating student work that they used in their courses. This will be followed by discussion of how workshop fellows plan to evaluate students in their courses, drawing on responses from the appropriate COIL Guide tables.
We will follow this with a discussion of assessment needs, both in terms of the home institutions for the workshop fellows and with respect to the COIL Institute. We will examine available instruments for assessing intercultural goals, discuss institutional resources available to fellows at their home institutions, and discuss COIL needs for data to evaluate the Institute.
