NolaStat presentation to the New Orleans City Council Governmental Affairs Committee by Brian Denzer on 1/15/2009.
NolaStat is a list of policy reforms utilizing open records to foster greater government transparency, to improve the efficiency and quality of government service, to support Katrina recovery, to raise public safety awareness, and to stimulate citizen participation in improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods.
The NolaStat process policy recommendation attempts to replicate the positive success of the CapStat reforms implemented in Washington, D.C. under the leadership of Mayor Adrian Fenty, CTO Vivek Kundra, and CapStat director Kevin Donahue.
President Barack Obama has found inspiration in the D.C. CapStat process as an example to follow in creating a open records policy for federal records.
