NUCHR is the voice for human rights on campus. With programming events, movie screenings, a student-organized seminar, and service-learning trips in Chicago and abroad as well as our three-day conference (the largest student-led conference on human rights in the US), we will explore a global issue through the lens of human rights. This year our topic is From Famine to Food Deserts: Human Rights and the Global Food Crisis. We will explore the political, social, and economic causes and implications of the global food crisis including questions such as "Is industrial agriculture a solution to hunger or part of the problem?" ; "Although food aid is helpful in the short-run, is it detrimental longterm?" ; "What is the relationship between food insecurity and conflict?" ; and "What does the food crisis look like in the US?"
