I found it useful—though deeply depressing—watching this. The frightening thing is how the opportunity to build peace after the historic 1993 Oslo agreements was wrecked by the incomprehensible refusal of one of the parties to that agreement to fulfil even a single one of its pledges.
The most terrifying aspect must be the systematic indoctrination of children that appears to have characterised the whole post-Oslo period: clear evidence is presented here that, throughout that period, children were encouraged to see martyrdom and armed struggle and the murder of innocent people as ideals to strive for. The well-meaning child is left with no justification or religious option to accept Israel as a neighbor in coexistence. As a result of this, a whole generation of fanatics has been nurtured with 72% of children expressing a wish (in a poll conducted in Gaza in 2002) to die as so-called martyrs.
Education is one of the keys to lasting peace and security in the Middle East. There can be no meaningful prospect of a peaceful, stable, safe future on such a hate-filled violent and radical foundation.
