Having originally bought a D90 because it did video, I was absolutely displeased with how bad the rolling shutter problem was. I bought an HV30 to compare and shot some test footage.
While the HV30 does jello and skew the image, in this drastic test it was extremely less detrimental to the video quality. I set both cameras up to be the same, with the HV30 set to HD30 mode. I did not lock the exposure on either unit.
What this certainly demonstrates is how different the rolling shutter problem is in different setups.
