Second year Normandale student Joe Pfau spent his summer in the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps based out of Canton, Ohio. Joe was one of many people from around the country to audition for the drumline, and one of the few lucky ones to be accepted. His position is on the tenor line; for those of you who don’t know what a tenor is; it is the widest set of drums that has six different heads. Imagine rehearsing almost all hours of the day while carrying a 40 pound instrument on your shoulders-- doesn’t sound too easy, does it? Amazingly though, these tenor players and the rest of the drumline make it look effortless. Due to the perfection of their training and clear-cut presentation, not many can appreciate the whole of the execution unless they have witnessed it in person. No video can do these talented players justice.
