I'm using a Turbulize node to generate random molding, and I think it works really well considering how basic the idea is.
Thanks to ICE modeling of course, this can be extended such that it dynamically adapts the resolution to the size and shape of the input polygon(s).
I make use of this technique in my building generator, whose current state I've been wanting to show for several months now, but I haven't gotten around yet to cleaning it up enough for a presentation. Hopefully soon on a Vimeo near you.
