Brilliant I will let the women in my life know ASAP and try this myself, I'm a bit of a chef myself. You can make a lovely pizza in second by simply spreading a little tomato ketchup, cheese, red onion and a little chilli on naan bread and simply placing it in the oven for 12 minutes:)

Just tried it and it works!

I didn't have two big bowls so, I went with a cookie sheet on the other side. Took only about 15 seconds of shaking.

I can't say it will always be appropriate to every conversation, but it won't be dull.

That garlic sure looks pretty, but if you're mincing it anyway, just smash it with the flat side of a big knife. No bowls to wash...

well yes it takes 10 seconds but you need a big wooden base, two big bowls...it is fine if you have a restaurant, but for regular kitchens...i doubt it

I hate to be a party pooper, but in the video it takes 19 seconds to peel that garlic (timed from smash to finish shaking). That's almost twice as long as advertised! ;)

I tried this and it didn't work for me. I didn't use metal bowls, but I did try to shake the dickens out of it. This only left me with loose garlic peels everywhere and some sadness. I really wanted to see this work. Has anyone else able to recreate this and have it successfully work?

Hmmm. Looks like it would work with old, fairly dry garlic (like most of the Chinese crap you find in supermarkets) but will it work with fresh, juicy garlic?
  •
  • Ed Hawco 4 months ago
...for example, if you smash a head of fresh juicy garlic with your hand like that, you won't break up the head, you'll break your hand.
