Twilight at Lake Acworth
Another test video with the little HD7.
I shot this at Lake Acworth which is a small lake attached to larger Lake Allatoona near where I live. For this shoot I experimented with the image detail turning it all the way down to see what the results were. For the most part the images were on the soft side.. So I will be turning the image detail up from now on..

Why is the picture so soft? Did you apply a blur or so? Also, there seems to be some chromatic abberation (reds shift to right, blue to left). Did you use an additional lens or applied a filter in post (Magic Bullet lens abberation?).
SB.. the picture is soft because I turned the video detail on the camera all the way off just to see what the effect was on the image.. the chromatic abbertions most likely are because I did a little sharpening in editing and touched up the saturation. I'm sure the combo resulted in the abberations.. plus.. I'm using comsumer editing software that I think lacks in HD handling abilites..
I will definitely be upgrading to better software very soon! Most likely Adobe Premiere Pro (If I can figure out it's workflow for the JVC's .tod files)
UPDATE:
well I converted the .tod files to .mpg and they look fantastic! way better than in the video!
but.. the trial version of Premiere Pro does not support .mpg files.. DRATS!!!
I really do need to find the time to pull some of my serious stuff from the library and upload it here.. Recently I have been shooting a show for CNN en Espanol called 'En Familia'.. I have asked the show producer to burn me a few DVD's of some of the more recent shows.. I will definitely upload them here when I get my hands of them!
I also have 2 independent shorts in preproduction. I'm starting the first one as soon as I buy a new camera.. the 2nd one will be shot this summer. They are actually going to be mini-docs on a few extraordinary people that live in my area..
I do like the static shots for outdoorsy type nature scenics.. but I do mix it up depending on what I am shooting. I've adopted my own mix of NPPA, feature film cinematography, with on-the-shoulder breaking news..
