Anyone who knows a lick about DC’s gelato scene is probably aware that Dolcezza has received rave reviews from the likes of the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and New York Times. But few know that owner Robb Duncan, the self-taught Mad Genius of Gelato, is inspired to dream up flavors that have earned him national recognition by his love for DC.

As we fall into autumn, we asked Duncan to create a new flavor based on the prompt: “DC is…” The result is the SocialStudiesDC Apple Crumble, which blends caramelized apple, a hint of cinnamon, and Dolcezza’s award-winning dulce de leche to paint a mouthwatering picture of our dear District.
