This is an instructional video to explain the positioning and footwork required when a goalie mis-reads a wraparound attempt and needs to recover.
We are simulating a passout to the slot area (as per the Nabokov video clip). Technically, we want the goalie to slide across sealing the pad tight to the post at the knee (not the boot break). This will allow the goalie to leverage off the post into the mid-net position ensuring s/he is on angle, square and ready to react to a quick shot. If time permits s/he will then gain depth and make a controlled save.
The drill works on proper execution, good footwork and an early eyes puck tracking emphasis.
