PLEASE WATCH IN HD FULL SCREEN w/SOUND. It is a much better viewing experience. Hopefully you have a 1080P monitor and good connection. If not, bug a friend or colleague that does. It is worth it.
Landscapes: Volume 2 is the second of a three part series (probably). Every frame of this video is a raw still from a Canon 5D2 DSLR and processed with Adobe software. In Volume 2 I again show off my beautiful home state of Arizona and I also made several trips to Utah. This video has some iconic landmarks that we have seen before. I felt that showing them again with motion controlled HDR and/or night timelapse would be a new way to see old landmarks.
Sales Pitch: I would now have to say that my timelapse skill set is very complete. The amount of knowledge I have gained through research, testing, and shooting experience is astounding. From moon phases to high dynamic range to motion control rigs to noise reduction, you would have a tough time finding someone with more overall knowledge of timelapse. If you need help with your next timelapse project you can reach me at 888-444-2739 or DustinF@crewwestinc.com
Most of the motion control for this video was done with the Stage Zero Dolly by Dynamic Perception. Once I got comfortable using the DP dolly I fell in love. I can set up shots now in much shorter times. More importantly for me, it is much smaller and much more portable than my homemade motion control. Without it, shots like the Delicate Arch shot in Utah would be nearly impossible due to the length of the hike. Buy the Stage Zero Dolly if you are looking for quality, inexpensive, easy-to-use motion control. dynamicperception.com/
In addition to the Stage Zero, I also used a three axis motion controlled CamTram. The CamTram is the most versatile dolly I have ever used. Its applications are only limited by your creativity. The CamTram has virtually no weight limit. I was able to achieve shots that dolly-in with the camera just over the ground because of the CamTram's ability to hold heavy counter weights.

The amazing graphic work at the beginning and end was done by Chris Pettit of Digital Skye Media Development. Check out Chris' other work here: vimeo.com/user8750744
Music is "Sunshine (Adagio In D Minor)" by John Murphy. #15 here: itunes.apple.com/us/album/sunshine-music-from-motion/id297702863
Thank you to the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff for allowing me to shoot there. They were very friendly and helpful. lowell.edu/
Saving the best for last . . . thanks to my wonderful wife Laura. Not only does she put up with and support this crazy passion of mine, she helped out on many of these shots. I think I'll keep her :-)

Great job Dustin. Pure inspiration.
Great! Congratulations.

One more thing: As a saleman on a market in France speciaized on the distribution of electronics goods, i capture the stream of your video (mp4 format compressed) to make a technical demo of the latest TVs on the market...I never see something like that...Customers were completely destabilized by the beauty of your videos...I laughed inside myself seeing these reactions.
I think you would have to be hire by samsung, panasonic etc to make them technicals demos.
And i wish to make somthing like you did (i have to test your secret on AE)
You could purchase the 1080P version for the use you desire by contacting me at dustinf@crewwestinc.com
Greetings from Germany. Jan
thanks
Nearly wide open
Around 25-30 seconds
One question, I tried shooting stars for 25-30sec, but they are moving pretty fast so it makes "stipes" on the picture.
I wonder how you get this result !
Anyway, bravo again, probably one of the most beautifull video on vimeo/earth :)
It is just a magic world!
Thanks for filming it :)
Storm / Milky Way shot at 1:28 is impressive beyond words.
Sunrise at 00:50 and sunset at 1:38 very clear.. Bramper, HDR? Again, very crisp.
Instant classic.
I have to agree that the Storm/Milky Way shot was stunning, gave me chills.
Excellent dolly moves, and incredible timing on those shots.
I think you'd better change the music, though, since some of your viewer might feel that the music used is so sad that if makes you feel as if the nature you're seeing is about to be destroyed. There are other choices that sound bright, epic, and moving.
Best wish.
I don't think the music is sad. I think it is powerful and builds nicely to match the strong finish.
And I agree with you Dustin on the music.
Anyone knows the track name by any chance?
thats the sad truth - in fact we are doin best to do so - to destroy mother earth.
i think the music fits - but not only of that hard fact you mentioned. it is also perfect to show one of the most awe-inspiring places in the world. there is a sad trend in loosing respect - respect for nature and respect for other beings - at least in my opinion. for our future it is inevitable to show more respect for other people, thoughts and for our planet.
wish you the best.
