RESEARCH ON TRANSITION ZONE / PARKS
by Karlien van Leeuwen
Warsaw in winter. The parks dressed in white. Looking for clues in the snow I found traces, leftovers of activity: Condoms, tissues, needles, empty wodka bottles. All
near the edge of the park, where the city heating pipes and thick bushes block off the sight. Among this cruising zone, I found a youth hang-out cave, pee spots and
even an altar with flowers and burning candles. The rubbish that is left in these places signals the alternate usage of the park. I wondered whether the traces could
also evoke others to join in the same behavior. To test this I inserting fake traces in a different park.
