The coalition of Altadena/ Pasadena Transformative Leaders acts as a catalytic agent of existing resources and assures a holistic practice for public service. In November, 2008 they gathered the community for a summit to celebrate their successes, and work together to find solutions to the challenges they face in their community. They wanted to engage a wide variety of community members of all ages and diverse backgrounds to discussed parenting, gang-related violence, issues with youth and schools and other social and economic issues. The event was held in both english and spanish. The group needed to be spontaneous, creative and open to working together to solve what sometimes appear to be insurmountable challenges or lack of resources. They would need to use unique methods and create a dynamic environment to be successful.

The group invited Michelle Winkel, of Unfolding Solutions to participate in the event as the Strategic Illustrator. She was to attend the sessions, listen closely and create on-site murals during the day's events.
