This project was an experiment in order to break the linearity of time in an uncommon way. The loopable video consist exclusively of single photographs. One full rotation is made of 360 single photographs. Eight different rotations were shot at different times, weather conditions at day and in the night.

Like it a lot, though I would've faded after each rotation into another completely different location. Why not try that for your next one?
  • Flo Sturm 9 months ago
that's a nice thought. we will definitely think about that. thx dan.

Can you give me a litte tip?

    You are a genious!
  • Flo Sturm 9 months ago
it's just a simple tripod. and the plate has a scale on it. so there was no special equipment used.
    keep it simple :)

have you tried batching the images into Photoshop and trying some filter experiments? I'd love to see this with some extreme looks. GREAT idea, well done.

Thank you very much .. it looks great!
Did you keep the camera in a housing of sorts for each rotational period?? My question circles around the vandalism, weather factor... look forward to your response! :D
  • Flo Sturm 9 months ago
    thx daniel.
actually it wasn't a very professional-looking production :) one rotation period took us one and a half our and due to the fact that we did the rotation manually we have to stay near the camera. between the rotation periods we took everything with us. so there was no possibilty for vandalism. the weather factor was incalculable. but it only rained a little during one rotation out of 8. and so we just placed an umbrella above the camera.

amazing work just out of curiosity how long did you wait between each shot. I've been trying to do some timelapse myself just tring to get some more input.
  • Flo Sturm 9 months ago
it was about 15 seconds. it took longer in the night, because the shutter speed was slower.

Very creative and interesting work. Why not make a series? You could try it with many smaller buildings (lights on and off at different times, and varied shapes, colours and sizes) or some larger building(s) of more architectural interest.

Nice movie but I got dizzy and had to stop in the middle for taking a break! :)

  • Henry Selvey 8 months ago
Interesting video. I found the blank screen still seeming to spin from right to left after the conclusion of the video. Makes me understand Riivo's comment above. This is not a vestibular phenomenon. Perhaps a "habituation" of cicadic (Sp?) eye movements?
  •
  • Henry Selvey 8 months ago
Thinking about this last evening, I was wondering if the motion were reversed would I "see" the blank screen at the end going from left to right. I am not very computer literate; could I download (and I barely know what that means) the video and then play it in reverse? Further thinking about the phenomenon related it to when I am walking in the woods and stop, my foreground appears to begin receding ahead of me for a brief while, that is, opposite to the direction that it has been moving in while I continue walking.
