OsiriX is an advanced open-source PACS workstation and DICOM viewer developed by a group of radiologists at the University of Geneva. It is designed for processing medical images from many formats including DICOM data. OsiriX has been used in many fields of medicine such as orthopaedics, cardiology and vascular surgery. Mac OSX is the software platform required for OsiriX. OsiriX has been used successfully in planning and sizing of endovascular aneurysm repairs (EVAR). It offers surgical roadmapping with volume rendering technique and centreline plotting which can be applied to many other areas such as planning of carotid stenting.
The ESVS online course will train participating vascular surgeons in basic and advanced applications of OsiriX. We have developed a course in modules accompanied by videos and the facility for online individual tutorial support. Self-evaluation objective questionnaires help to monitor course progression.
