Spain 2011 - work in progress
An abnormal phenomenon occurs in an olive grove as one of the trees suddenly shakes its branches. This peculiar act gradually evokes an uprising amongst neighboring olive orchards. After other trees have joined the protest movement, a police squad seeks to suppress the rebellion.
The initial inspiration for this piece is based on the ancient labor of olive harvest, which encompasses both cultivation and aggression in the same action. This seemingly brutality that relates to the harvest actually delivers the olive tree its ultimate goal of spreading its seeds.
Acknowledging that the Mediterranean olive harvest takes place around October, the film was divided into two sessions. The first part was shot in May 2011 in Andalucía, Spain and the second shooting stage is scheduled for October 2012 in Spain, during the busy harvest season.
