This is a test of the Red Eye FX 0.5x wide angle adaptor. It screws on like a filter, and gives you a 50% wider field of view.

The Samsung HMX20C has its strong and weak points, but one thing that bothered me in particular was that it couldn't go very wide, so I purchased this adaptor.

I thought I'd demonstrate it so other people can get an idea of how useful it might be to them. You might need to download the full HD version to check for sharpness, chromatic aberration, and barrel distortion.

thanks phil, very useful. Can I ask if this is the FX version of the Red Eye or the standard one?

It's the FX. That was careless of me, I should have said. I'll update the title now- thanks for the heads-up.

Cause here in Moldova , there are no such products so i am ordering one from Chicago where my friend lives so he can bring one to me .. but i just can't be sure of witch fisheye lense i should order and wich adapter ring i should command with it, knowing that the Samsung is 49 mm .. can you please help me ? thank you !

I wouldn't describe this as a fish-eye. The barrel distortion is too mild- at least when fitted to the Samsung. The specs- I'm not sure what I have left out from my review that you'd want to know- could you be more specific?

As for the step-up ring, again, can't think what to say that isn't in the video. There's really only two numbers you need- camera-side diameter and filter-side diameter. Samsung is 49mm, and this particular model of wide angle adaptor is 72mm. Some step-up rings are thicker than others, when using a wide-angle adaptor, you generally want as thin as you can get, and this one is great in that respect, as it does the conversion in one step. If you can't find a single ring to do it like I did, you might have to use two, which increases your chance of vignetting.

One fact missing from the video- it weighs 60.2g (2.125oz) on its own, and 98.8g (3.485oz) with the step-up ring (made of decent grade brass).
