A tribute to Ridley Scott and Vangelis, whose atmospheric work on Blade Runner has been a huge source of inspiration in my shooting time lapses, as well as for entire generations of filmmakers. I hope this will make many of you want to revisit (or discover if you haven't yet) this genre-defining movie.

Shot roughly over a year in Tokyo with a Canon 5dmk2, mainly in the Shinjuku area.

Music: "Main Titles" and "Blush Response" from Vangelis' haunting score. It still sends chills down my spine every time I listen to it... my favorite soundtrack to this day. The new 3-cd remaster is well worth getting: itunes.apple.com/us/album/blade-runner-trilogy-music/id274024314

Samuel, Great Job! Some of your day to night transitions are amazing. The music to voice choreography was very cool and added allot to a city timelapse... I may have even gone for more exaggerated AE moves in the beginning to give greater effect with the voice and cut the time by a minute. I love the Shinjuku area, we lived up in Aomori for a few years.

Very nice Sam! I liked the Shibuya crossing shot. I don't think I have seen that angle of it before. And it's tough to find a new angle for it;) I look forward to shooting with you again soon!

I like this, I enjoy time-lapse photography myself- my only critique is that this needs more "close ups" this is a wonderful portrait of Tokyo- but as they say, movies are told in close ups ;)

Love it. It's amazing how important the music was in setting the mood for the movie. I felt the same shivers here as well.

The music you used in your closing credits wasn't on the soundtrack CD that I had burned into my grey matter over the past 27 years. Thank you for recommending the 3 cd set.

Lovely video, images are awesome, specillay last ones. But music DOSN'T FIT as said... Dialogs? WHy dialogs? Seems like music was plasted in the video without any previous idea... Well, I turned off sound and enoyed SO MUCH the imagen, for sure! Nice work! (Next one, take care for sound).

Have you seen Blade Runner? It was a kind of juxtaposition of the futuristic cityscape from the film.
  • Joan Fuste plus 3 months ago
Not only seen, I collect Blade Runner! I Have circa 140 editions of the movie, I watched it not less than 50 times, and... well, too large to explain. Take a look to my own channel or my own sites about BR: mybladerunner.com and bladerunnercollection.com
