This is a proof of concept that water can be rendered using sprites. I was challenged to create a realistic water fountain rendered with sprites. Render and simulation times were relatively low compared to using more common techniques such as particle fluids or blobbies.
This 10 second animation rendered in under 3 hours and my simulation times were about the same for roughly 750,000 sprites.
I used several different cache's of the same particle network with different seeds to add a lot of the detail and particle advection for the realistic movement.
