I must admit I was about to avoid watching a video where people involved with SOUND talk about sound. HOWEVER ~ ~ ~ I would have been mistaken.
The video is in itself a pleasant audio/visual experience - crafted with much skill. The people share their positive ideas and feelings with us - their genuine love for "sound" comes across strongly. EXCELLENT ~ thank you

What beautiful sound we filter and build all around our lives comes together in this epic little piece about SOUND. I love how you focus so oddly and fast into different angles and ways. Uhmazing!

I've been thinking quite deeply about sound recently, so this video really strikes a chord with me. Back in May I took a wildlife sound recording course with Gordon Hempton, the 'Soundtracker' - roaming around Olympic National Park looking for beautiful sounds, and began to understand some of the finer qualities of natural soundscapes. I've since spent thousands of Euros on equipment and I'm setting forth to record the world. Anything really: horse races, thunder, boxing, football crowds, the dawn chorus, purring cats, squabbling seagulls, cicadas. When I listen to the recordings they have a really profound effect on me - transporting me right back to the location. Much more so than pure images. I'm just beginning to put these soundscapes and images together; it takes much more effort and requires a lot more gear but the results can be amazing.

Myles, I bet that working with Gordon was a revelation.

I specialised in Sound Design at university, and everyone has such passion for the subject, but there needs to be more, as too many films suffer from poor or lazy sound design

Just came from Hawaii where I bought two CD's with music interlaced with sounds of water, waves, birds, even the very rattle of small rocks as the surf retreated from a stone beach just like I heard on Maui's shore north of Kahului. Great memories and warm emotions still wash over me while listening to those CD's.

Excelent work. For those of you who enjoy visual representation of sound check out this website:
    elektramontreal.ca/2011/
It is made of 2 layers, an informational layer on top of a experimental audio-visualization layer. By clicking on the "CREATE YOUR OWN" button in the footer the site gives control of the background to the user by using their computers microphone. The background reacts to the way the users use their mic and rearranges itself in infinite ways, just like SOUND.
