Motion is a motion graphics conference held each October in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This year, they asked for a group of students from Ex'pression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, CA to create an animation to celebrate the event reaching its fifth year.
I was selected along with Lydia Baillergeau, Lauren Patterson, and Charles Lee to be that group. It was an honor and privilege to be a part of this project and represent the school at the conference.
The following video is a stop motion animation utilizing gelatin and LED lights. Our concept was "You have to know the rules before you can break them." We used Dragon Stop Motion and After Effects CS5.
Special thanks on this project go to Kyle Norby–a teacher at our school who put in countless hours of support to help us through this project, not to mention our entire time at Ex'pression–as well as Bryan Atarama for the sound design, and Brian Kennedy for the technical/electrical help.
I would also like to thank Yael Braha, Scott Hess, Elaine Montoya, and Becky Padilla for the opportunity they afforded us with this experience.
