St. Marks Church In-the-Bowery has been a cornerstone of the Lower East Side for more than three centuries. Founded in the late 1700s, it is the oldest site of continuous worship in New York City. The sculptures and statues surrounding St. Mark's serves as a testament to the Church's commitment to arts in the community. Notable writers like William Carlos Williams and Alan Ginsberg and dancers such as Isadora Duncan and Martha Graham have graced the hall of the church.
This Saturday and Sunday as part of the annual Open House New York weekend the church will be offering exclusive tours.
