Shots are in chronological as we spent two weeks on the big island mostly around Kona. There are shots of waves, volcanoes (including a lava tube), turtles, monk seals, fish, sunsets, my daughter Fiona, waterfalls, the Hawaiian Botanical Tropical Gardens, a side trip to Hilo, and a bit of driving through the jungle around Hilo.

I just threw it into iMovie '09's new templates thing to see how it looked and it does an ok job. Unfortunately, I can't move clips around or edit transitions without crashing the program with this many 1080p HD clips

I know that crabs can jump... but it eerks me to see it in action.

I think the shot of the sunset through the tree is the best ever. Hope you caught that with your DSLR too.

Very cool, and sorry about the crashing. What kind of camera did you use?

Erik, yeah, the sunset here was taken downstairs about five minutes after that shot (and I wanted to end the video with it, but iMovie keeps crashing when I try to drag it down a few rows):

Jish, I'm using a new Canon 5DMkII, which does 1080p video files that are enormous. I took 91 clips 5-90 seconds in length during my trip, so it's a ton of data for iMovie to deal with, and I must say iMovie does a good job of saving everything automatically before it crashes, so I can resume right where I left off. It's all being done on a Mac Pro with tons of ram, disk space and processing, but I kind of wish it was more stable.

This is really cool. Did you take the Figgis wheel thingy?

And Fry's had a thing on 16 gig compact flash cards: $30 for a Kingston card! Don't know if that's still going on or not. Marshall from blurbism.com tipped me to that deal. I bought four. So far, they are excellent cards.

Yeah, I used the figrig on the walkthrough video (the newer one on my vimeo account after this), but I'm still getting the hang of moving smoothly while holding it.

Cool on the cheap 16Gb cards. I bought one last summer that cost $180 and it's now going for about $70 on amazon. I haven't filled one up yet, but I suspect an upcoming trip to Disneyland could push it to capacity.
