Approach such as Agile, Lean and Kanban have been shown to provide efficiency gains to teams in many organisations. This talk will argue that those improvements have come from structural changes that have reduced the potential for embarrassment and threat. In order to increase effectiveness further it requestion testing underlying assumptions about the design and management of work. This talk will present the work of Chris Argyris on how the Mutual Learning Model can be used to overcome organisational defensive routines and create conditions for Double Loop Learning that will lead to greater individual, team and organisational effectiveness.
