Bison were reintroduced into was once traditional territory. In 1940 the Wood Bison was thought extinct after inbreeding with plains bison imported to rebuild the herds. In 1959 a remote and until then unknown herd of 200 Wood Bison were discovered. From those original 200, larger herds of Wood Bison have grown and live in scattered habitats in BC, the Yukon, Alberta and The Northwest Territories. These bison are along the Alaska Highway corridor through the Canadian Rocky Mountains between Watson Lake and Laird River Hot Springs. Canon HV20 720x480 MPEG2 132.02 MB
