Thomas Lissajoux - A lean approach to portfolio management
4 months ago
In many companies using agile practices, project portfolio management are still plan-driven: i.e. the focus is on elaborating a plan and taking actions when deviations are reported.
A better alternative is to bring the focus on value, flow and waste, instead. In this session we explore some of the lean product development techniques that have been introduced to manage a portfolio.
We will talk about the different shifts implied :
- from projects to products
- from push to pull
- from ready-to-implement solutions to well-defined problems
We will also tell about how we tried to find a third way to the two perspectives : the biannual project review on the business side and the never ending product backlog horizon on the IT side.
