I'm sure there are sad Atheists, Christians, Muslims and Satanists but I don't think it's your religion that ultimately decides how happy a person you're going to be; I think (and I'm perfectly happy to be told that I'm wrong) that it's the person themselves that decide how happy they'll be I agree though that someone's religion may facilitate their being happy. Having said that; an atheist friend of mine is so scared of death it completely consumes their life and right or wrong a belief in the afterlife would undoubtedly help them to be a lot happier - religion certainly isn't a bad thing in my opinion.
