No Ward is a short documentary about the forced migration of New Orleans residents to cities in Texas. The film juxtaposes the migrations that occurred as a result of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and Hurricane Gustave in 2008.

Typical american the childs priority is new clothes and a hair do. This is the reason that america is in a recession. Nice shots though.

  • Interesting point Donovan... Seems what looks good is what's important.

If that is what came across when you heard the little girl speak then please fault me as the filmmaker. Having spent time with that little girl, I know that her principal concerns are academics (which she mentions in the film) she is an amazing, bright, and dynamic child who has been through more than most of us and has come through optimistic, and wide eyed. So if that isn't what you get from how she is represented, fault me. Trust me her concerns are principally with her academics and the saftey of her family.

I don't see that this child is shallow (for lack of a better word) and that her priorities are clothes and hair. Those "luxuries" speak to what she views as normalcy. Kids go to the mall, buy fun things and get their hair done. Her "normal" existence has been interrupted and very abruptly, I might add. Malls are huge, solid structures with fun, enticing glittery things that comfort people. Don't blame the child for her innocent desire to experience something that she probably views as safe entertainment. Nance Rocks!

I couldn't agree more. I see a little girl reaching out for stability. Intelligent and optimisitic

I love my children, and I'm grateful that my kids don't have these challenges, if they did I would hope that they would keep their innocence like her...

    Great work!

Powerful and beautifully worked film of interrupted lives and communities.

An even handed and adult portrayal of the 'human condition' with, perhaps, just a glimmer of optimism.

I'm from Dallas, Texas and this reminds me of my family. All the things I love them for and all the embarrassing things. I know where you're coming from with this, most people take this kind of stuff on face value because they lack the experience.

You're presenting a true reflection of the effects of Katrina on real folks, not some watered down version or a crazy racist version.

But at the end of the day I know that the real problem or the solution doesn't come from the victims of Katrina. And whatever people direct to them should be directed towards Obama.
