I love this city. As tribute, I’ve pieced together thousands of photos that I think capture Toronto’s beautiful skyline, and the essence of the lively downtown core. All but one of the scenes in this time-lapse were shot between September and October of this year.
In some ways, my presentation of Toronto is a follow up to a recent summer fling in Ottawa, where I produced Capital Cruising; thanks to CTV Ottawa’s interest in using the video as an introduction to their 6 o’clock news, I was able to devote myself to the creation of what I hope is a piece that everyone in the city can enjoy.
Thank you to CTV Ottawa for utilizing my last video Capital Cruising (vimeo.com/26830842) for their 6 o’clock news segment, which indirectly funded this project.
Thank you, Matt Black, of One King West hotels. You gave me the opportunity to behold some of the best views of the city. You should make this hotel a priority if you are visiting! onekingwest.com/
Thank you, blursurfer. You showed me some crazy vantage points. Please check out his impressive work here: blursurfing.com/
Thank you 1loveto for keeping in touch these past couple months and launching the video. Check them out at: 1loveto.com/
Thank you to my family, Jon B, Layla T, and Martin L.
In the future, I’d like to set my sights on Vancouver, and my camera on the province’s sprawling landscape. Or a longer, properly funded Toronto film. If you have any interest in helping me accomplish this goal, e-mail me at: ryanemond747@gmail.com.
I'm shooting with:
Nikon D700 with various lenses rented from Vistek.
Motion with the stage zero dolly from dynamicperception.com/ (Great product, and the best customer service I have ever experienced.)
I also use a set of Lee filters and an Orion telescope head for some of the pans.

In a city which skyline is growing all the time the opportunities for great locations just keep coming.
This afternoon I'm featuring Toronto Tempo in TinyWrld.com
Music is cool too!
nice stuff
just a quick question on the night timelapse, in general do you set you aperture to it's smallest a 22 or 16, to avoid flare or over exposures? i'm assuming it's very long exposures at 22 or thereabout
What manufacturer did you use for your motion control rig?
Love it like I love Toronto myself!
...although you never did say how you got on the front of the subway. lol
24mm f/3.5D ED and PC-E Micro NIKKOR
45mm f/2.8D ED. For the tilt shift.
Fantastic.
Well done!
I felt like I am on my next visit to TO.
But, the next real one will be only a part of what you give in each tenth of a second.
Cummulative visual impact and book-end subway shots take me into and out of the journey that is more than a 'ride on the rocket'.
And, fyi, Canada Line in Van and the Sky Train give you a great intro to Van plus the ride to Grouse up and down and over the Lions Gate Bridge and Stanley Park sea wall ride and Davie and Robson day and night. but you know this.
Love TO and Van.
Love your presentation here.
THX Ryan
Love the Rogers Stadium dome moving and covering the whole stadium: WOW!
Bravo!

(Incidentally I recently ordered the Dynamic zero dolly and the Little Bramper. Both ought to arrive this week.)
The footage from the train, did you shot that with the timelapse mode or video recording?
great video by the way.
It's indeed I'm God by Clams Casino, I was surprised to hear it now and could not find this remix as it's a different name :D
