Parasita is an abstract audiovisual composition for Super 8 film and radio interference drawing inspiration from French philisopher Michel Serres’s investigation into noise and communication. Starting with a play on the double meaning of the word ‘parasita’ which, in French and Greek, means both ‘radio interference’ and ‘parasites’, the work superimposes a sonic and a filmic structure: an audio journey by way of radio tuning and a visual journey into the world of common house moths, mapping destruction and depicting scenes of constant, often violent insectual and material transformations.
