Quabbin Reservoir - Drive Thru (10/16/11 5:30pm) (Speed 500%)
Just playing with one of my car mountable cameras. In this case the Contour HD. I used Twixtor to increase the speed to 500%. This was originally a 25min leisurely drive. Here I take you through some of the driveable areas of the Quabbin Reservoir, down Route 9 and lastly through the Quabbin Cemetery (where my grandfather is buried). The Quabbin is the massive body of water in the middle of Massachusetts (check a map). It was MAN MADE to supply Boston with drinking water. The water takes an 80 mile ride from Western, MA out to Boston. Starting in 1939 it took 7 years for the water to reach it's current volume. Four small valley towns were disincorporated to allow for the flooding. People were forced to move to surrounding towns and I believe they were given a small government compensation for their troubles. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quabbin_Reservoir
