Hundreds of protesters marched from City Hall to UPenn’s Wharton School on Friday after House Representative Eric Cantor (R-VA-7th) cancelled a speech he was to give to the students there. Cantor’s reason for canceling was the university’s inability to ensure only Wharton students would be present at the speech. The message delivered by the Occupy protestors was loud and clear. People are unhappy the way they’ve been treated lately and Friday was a prime example of how little representation a congress member needs to carry out in office. Cantor’s behavior this week was not a surprise to several of his Virginian constituents who drove all the way up just to see him. If this doesn’t hurt Cantor’s career in politics, then surely not enough people are aware of this kind of behavior as normal for such a rep, as his Virginian constituents made clear.
