Fisheye and Wide Angle lens adapters meant for cellphones work pretty well on the Zi6 HD Camera. A metal ring with doublesided tape sticks around the lens opening that the magnetic lenses attach to.

    John,

Can I ask how the wide angle lens works? I see that the fisheye is the "magnetic" type, but the wide angle that you linked to seems to be physically attached to a piece of plastic molded for the iPhone.

Is this the right wide angle lens? If so, how does it work with your magnetic base?

Josh....you are correct! I linked the wrong wide angle lens...the right one is at the bottom of the page I linked but here's the correct link:

    usbfever.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=789

It is the magnetic version and works the same as the fisheye.

You are making my Sanyo jealous. I love the Sanyo, but wish I had got the model up so I could use lenses now.

Damn, I already bought the plastic slip on one. I hope they take returns.

This looks like the same lens for UK people. I've just ordered one. Now I've got to search for the fish eye too!

would this 6X Camera Optic Lens Telescope work as well? it would really get a depth of field but I don't thing it's magnetic like the usbjunkie products. Does the kodak zi6 have a screw mount?
  •
  • John Biehler plus 7 months ago
No Zi6 screw mount...not sure how that 6x lens attaches...so no idea if it would work....probably would just may be tricky to attach.

don't forget the magnetic telephoto lens, i'm sure will come in handy when using macro mode

also there are vinyl covers for the zi6 here:
    cgi.ebay.com/Three-Vinyl-Cut-Skin-wrap-covers-for-Kodak-Camera-zi6_W0QQitemZ120334999170QQcmdZViewItem QQptZDigital_Camera_Accessories?hash=item1c04865e82

tech for that 6x tele zoom that doesnt screw on, you can attach it to one of those covers

Do you know if this would work with the Kodak Zx1? It seems like they both have a metal ring around the lens, so it would stick.
  • John Biehler plus 5 months ago
The metal rings in the camera have no bearing on this lens...the lenses come with stick on metal rings that you have to apply to the camera and the lens attaches to that. The lens opening for the Zx1 and Zi6 are the same so they fit fine.
  • Chase O. 5 months ago
Ah, alright. Thank you. With an iPhone 3G, do the metal rings leave any sort of residue? I'd also like to use these with that, but don't have a case or skin on it.
  • John Biehler plus 5 months ago
The metal ring sticks out a bit (it's thin but not that thin and the ring is almost sharp)....I found it annoying on my 'naked' iPhone actually and it would catch on any case I wanted to use with it or in a pocket. There is a bit of residue but like any sticker, you should be able to remove it easily.

Using it on the Zi6 works much better since the lens is actually recessed a little and the ring sits inside that recess so it causes no problems.

Hmmm, okay. I'm thinking I'm going to end up getting this and then just holding it to my iPhone in fear of sticking something on it. ;)

And I've been debating between buying the Zx1 and Zi6, and I'm thinking I'll go with the Zx1 because of the durability I want, and then order one of these lenses for the macro that's in the Zi6. Saying this because you've really helped me out here in making this decision. So thanks!
