Looking Back - Film 5 from An Experimental Film a Week for a Year from nathanrae.co.uk

Yesterday I went into manchester on the train to buy a small tripod and some foam for the case/rucksac which I'm making for my camera and accessories. I decided to use the trip to make a short study of the world which happens behind me as I walk along that I'm not usually aware of. I planned to film with the camera pointing backwards every 20 seconds or so then edit each clip to about half a second. This would have been perfect except for the large Jessops store in Manchester has closed down. I had to walk miles across town to a tiny Jessops which didn't have what I wanted, then even farther to a Maplin store. This means that I spent far longer filming than I intended and the film is 30 seconds over my arbitrary 2 min limit which I don't like to do but wont make a habit of.

Landmarks you may recognise (or not) along the way include Urbis, the Big Wheel, M&S, Exchange Theatre, John Rylands Library, The Palace Theatre, BBC, Factory Records, The Village, China Town, Picadilly Gardens, Arndale and my house.

No music this week as the changing sounds from the camera makes it's own beat or rhythm.

(Yes the first 10 or so shots from outside are over exposed but i hadn't noticed as i was running late for the train. I used it to good effect for the titles though don't you think?)
