Views of Haltwhistle Burn, a small stream which winds down from Hadrian's Wall through the small Northumbrian market town of Haltwhistle and into the waters of the South Tyne. The pictures are all the more remarkable because, a hundred years ago this beautiful valley was an industrial powerhouse with coal mines, brickworks, quarries, lime kilns and three woollen mills. Of these only chimney remains, the first to be built and last to stand, an enigmatic ruin amidst the beauty of the Northumbrian countryside.
