Zapruder’s Other Films approached Hackett Films to create a title sequence and graphic package for their new panel show that discusses relevant issues and conundrums within contemporary society.
Hosted by Ian Dickinson (Dicko), the show utilizes new media to glean audience and panel members opinions and views. As the debate rages on, people are not allowed to sit on the fence and must cast a vote in the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ category.
For the title sequence we wanted to build a graphic language where old media exists amongst new. Animation, URLs and twitter logos hint at new media while paper texture, photocopied photography and dot tone hint at the old. The result is a dynamic hybrid that is contemporary and hints at the fast topical themes in the show.
To visualize the show’s polls and statistical side we chose to humanise what could be dry and intangible information. In the title sequence we follow a group of everyday Australians through the quagmire of public opinion and out the other side. The group reappear in the show’s breakers and other on-screen graphics.
