4. Making of the Camera Costume
This is the process of making my Halloween costume and some pics of it in action.
Everything works from the LCD screen, built-in flash, and shutter release button. It is also capable of wirelessly controlling my Alienbees strobes, and winning any costume contest with the push of a button.

Music: "Just Say Um" by The Little Village

Awesome costume! The party had great costumes too. Plus I'm loving this "Just Say Um" song.

There were SO many good costumes there. Wish I could have shown them all in the photos. That Sky Captain costume? Amazing.

Brilliant Tyler. I love the way you incorporated the notebook screen into your costume. Very well executed.
  • Tyler Card 3 months ago
Thank you, Nikhil. It was actually thrown together quite last-minute. Had I known it was going to get so much attention on the web, I would have tried a little harder!

How could you have NOT known this would have had so much attention online? I mean, it's truly epic in all aspects.

I haven't gotten any requests from the Detroit Tigers or Fox Sports Detroit yet, so I have a long way to go before I catch up with you guys.

you need to meet my friend Murdoch. Together you could build the greatest Halloween outfit in the history of outfits. Last year he made a fully functional Zoltar (Tom Hanks: Big) machine, from which (in full Zoltar costume) he dispensed tarrot cards which said "I am Zoltar, i can see into the future. I foresee you will take a trip to the bar. I'll have a pint please"

That sounds incredible. Great movie, might I add.

    ..But it's a D5000 :(
  • Tyler Card 3 months ago
ha, you're the only person who accurately determined what camera it really was. I couldn't fit "D5000" on it, and I wasn't going for accuracy. It was simply a Halloween costume I made for 1 party. Never thought millions of people would be seeing and analyzing it to the bone.

Nikon ichiban desu!!! I know there's a metric ton of Canon partisans out there but I love my Nikon. Nothing can touch Nikkor optics. Nothing. Awesome costume too!
