30. ZRed & ZRed Zwivel
The Zred & Zred Zwivel are the EVF mounts all RED camera users have been waiting for. They are inexpensive, infinitely adjustable and configurable as well as Zacuto strong. These mounts can work on the top or bottom 19mm or 15mm rods on the RED ONE camera. They can be used in a standard ENG configuration or as an extender eyepiece coming out the back of the camera. These mounts have the ability to slide the EVF forward and backward as well as a complete 360 degree spin. They can swivel perpendicular to the camera or any area or angle you need.

Seriously I should have asked for some kickbacks. At least you guys should have named it after me ;)

Here's the original Youtube video. youtube.com/watch?v=y1pLaJ4h1RI

And FYI I do also use it with the Zmount but it was out on a job when I shot the original video. My current configuration and the one I've used since August is just like this. I'm very happy with it.
  • Mike, we tried to find out who you were and of course we want to recognize you as the creator of the first Zacuto EVF mount. It was your initial video that got Jens and I to thinking and the ZRED was born. For your ingenuity and resourcefulness in creating a new product from Zacuto components we are going to present you the Second Zacuto Award (the first Award going to Jeremy McDermott) This award is for $500 in Zacuto components (whatever you want), just look through our store and let me know what you would like.

We would also like to do a story on you for blog, website and a press release. Can you send me your email address and phone number so we can get in contact with you. Thanks for getting in touch with us and congratulations.

Guys, thanks for the mention, and thanks for the great products.

I actually found out about the video from a friend, Mike Mastre, who had just bought 2 Reds and was researching viewfinder mounts. Of course he bought the Zacuto solution after he knew I was using it!

I've recently come up with a couple of other mods I've made with Zacuto parts I had lying around. I'll share those with you soon when I get a break from shooting.

I'm very happy with the system. It's simple, cost-effective and flexible. I tried a couple of other solutions before settling on this one and it's better and cheaper than anything currently out there.

Mike, thanks for your original innovation. I'm a believer in sharing our information freely. If you'd like to keep in touch, email me at ggdpworkshop@gmail.com.

    -Guy
