From my stint in Jakarta, Indonesia (8/03 to 6/05), this is my appearance on the Indonesian TV show "Bule Gila", which means "Crazy White Foreigner". This episode aired throughout Indonesia in February of 2005 and I was a Z list celebrity for about 48 hours. :-)

Background- I had heard that Producers were looking for foreigners to appear in this reality-based TV show so I quickly volunteered. The jist of the show is that you compete against another foreigner by completing various jobs that foreigners usually never have to do in Indonesia.

In this episode, my competition is "Jeroen" from Holland who has lived in Jakarta for many years and spoke fluent Indonesian. His wife is the famous Indonesian actor, Christine Hakim.

We competed first by selling "obu gosok" (cleansing soap) and then the second challenge was to do the "topeng monyet" ("Monkey Dance" where we try to get a real monkey to do tricks for tips). This was all filmed in the streets of various Jakarta neighborhoods.

In the end, there was only one winner, and you'll have to watch the episode to see who that was. It was a lot of fun and illustrates why I love living in different cultures where unique opportunities such as these arise...
