In 1948, Dr Jan Lieberman invented a microscope that never made the headlines. Called the Rika, knowledge of it’s existence has been limited until the death of Lieberman in 2010, when new documents and the original Rika instrument itself resurfaced.
In the summer of 2011 artists Lucy McRae, Lernert & Sander, Joost Korngold, Champagne Valentine, Nacho Guijarro and the Steggink Brothers were given private access to work with the Rika in a laboratory outside Amsterdam.
The exhibition The Rika is an exclusive presentation of their findings and creations set in a street side public video gallery at Random Studio.
