- Our Canon 7D with the 10-22mm stolen by the peruvian customs
- we were almost refused our entry with the sony FX1000 into the Machu Picchu site
- Claire had food poisoning for 24h

You will understand that we had a lot of emotions! ...but we enjoyed our 72h in Peru!!
And so these shoots were hard to bring!
Beautiful landscapes, nice people and it was the ideal country to test our slider.

The full story of our peruvian misadventure is here menilmonde.com/2011/10/3-jours-eprouvants-au-perou/#en

It's the first clip, a sweet one. The second will be more fun and rythmic...

Canon 5D mark 2
Sony FX 1000

*****

Your dolly shots are beautiful. They add a different dimension to your videos...
  • Claire&Max plus 3 months ago
    Thanx Jon!
Yes, the dolly add value to the shoots.
Bring the dolly into the Machu Picchu was our "little victory" for these unforgettable 72h...

    Thank you very much Ben!
We wanted to make timelapses but the trouble with the customs and the 7D stolen forced us to abandon timelapses for this trip...
  • Ben 3 months ago
Very annoying and unfortunate! But I love these images as well! I'm not only a fan of timelapses.

Very very nice. So you had a small tripod? And a slider - which slider? Were you still travelling light?
  • Claire&Max plus 3 months ago
    Thank you Jess.
We have Benjamin's dolly (vimeo.com/user1508935) dolly, very portative. You can find if here pocketslider.de/
We were without tripod bacause they didn't want we bring it...

  • rashawn woodgett plus 3 months ago
How did they steal your gear? So we can avoid that.
  • Claire&Max plus 3 months ago
Rashawn, Claire is fligth attendant: she can carry only one DSLR. But me, you (non fligth attendant), we can carry 10 DSLR... (why? don't know...)
  • Joe Moya plus 3 months ago
If I read your post correctly... that is not stealing... that is confiscation by customs. Why wouldn't you have claimed all the cameras and none by Claire?

So is it safe to say a typical tourist visiting Peru can bring 10 cameras without problems.... and, that your only problem was that Claire was a flight attendant that the Peruvians claimed she had more than one camera.

    BTW, nice video...
  • Claire&Max plus 3 months ago
    Joe, thank for your attention!
A clairification: I was travelling with Claire and they separate us, so we were travelling together and it was not "resailing of electronic equipment".
At hte beginning, they ask us to give them 300$, we didn't want. We knew later that we will not have our camera back, so we wanted to pay 500, 1000, 1500$ (the price of the equipment), but the director didn't want: he said "you can't pay, your equipment is grasped".
So why the first person wanted money??!
They didn't have rigth to keep the lens. The 7d naked yes, but not the lens...

But yes, it's safe (at the customs) for typical tourist visting Peru. :-)

while the video was loading we were reading the details...
damn thieves... can't get over it... at all...
but then the video... made us forget it all for those 3.56mins... love the footage... the dolly-work... amazing slowmo and amazing colors... LOVED IT! can't wait to see the second video.
ok... now pissed again... can imagine how you must be feeling... HUGS from Rome!!
  • Claire&Max plus 3 months ago
Yes, Shawn, Caterina, it's a sad story!
    But "it's the life".
We will try to recover it but it seems a lost cause.
As you wrote, the shoots and beautiful pictures are here to remember that this country is even amazing.
I work now on the second clip, more funny and more of us and our team...
We hope that your trip in Sri Lanka was great and that you came back with lot of pictures and shoots too! :-)
    Hugs from Paris! :-)

Just had a quick look at your other video's ...had a good laugh at your London trip :) You haven't done Berlin yet ... well worth a 48 hr shoot ... see you there maybe
  • Claire&Max plus 3 months ago
Yes Andy, we had fun to make the londonian clip!
And 48h in Berlin are expected... may be in 2012?
  •

    Denis
  • Claire&Max plus 1 month ago
    Merci Denis!
