On 2009-02-08, walking the Timpoochee Trail at 8 a.m., here are some thoughts about an idea for a book about turtles in our area. That is NW Florida along the Emerald Coast, where we live amid state forests, parks, rare coastal dune lakes, and the white crystal sanded beaches by the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We share this area with the native inhabitants, including threatened species such as the gopher turtle. A friend had an idea for a children's book, so here is my contribution to the conversation.
