Spending the last year being hypnotized for the purpose of discovering past lives, I found myself fighting battles, Sailing ships, Traveling cities, training big cats, loosing limbs, enduring scars and kissing girls. and Way too much more...
But as a questioner, I ask: Where does imagination take over in the space between past lives and real histories? Do I just create these images in my mind out of things that are familiar to me?
So this Film is constructed to be both familiar in its use of classic, recognizable cinematic techniques, and unfamiliar in its portrayal of characters in a sort of limbo were all times happen at once, a fusion of history, present and future.
Single words and suggestion are played out like the act of hypnotism, here, conjuring images that allude to things beyond our comprehension. The dearth of dialogue and stoic delivery of what words there are deepen the dream, so the result is Brechtian in its paired back representation of seemingly familiar settings and characters.
Identity is shared, along with the role of protagonist and antagonist, victim and assailant. As in a dream, or a recollection from the misty past, nothing is clear but all is familiar.
