BOOTLEG IS ONLINE NOW!
vimeo.com/5701809
In this video we go from the top of the hill(the start)to the bottom of the hill. The race does continue further with lots of pedaling "THE WALL" section is not part of the video. This video is second video of three videos from the SouthRidge Downhill Mountain Bike Race, June 1 2008
The race footage is of pro, semi pro, expert, sport, and beginner. Both male and female. watch for the crashes at the end.
Note all of the footage is hand held two shots are shot of an aluminum pole, also hand held. No tripods dollies etc. Also none of the footage has been stablilized or scaled,in post.
If you are would like to see longer takes of this race click on my albums. In the Fontana album are some uncut clips of long duration.

I am not satisfied with the colors in this one they look much better uncompressed. once I upload to Vimeo the video looks soft and the colors shifted. Please post a comment it helps to hear your thoughts.

I Have re- colored and encoded this video This time it looks much better maybe soon we can see online video at 30 fps it still stutters on playback but not as bad, the fix increase saturation, bring down the output white, and encode at 25FPS. Pixels near white go white the tonal range near Black holds up much better. I also figured out that shots that have a static background with a moving subject look better. Anyhow I will be keeping all this in mind in future edits and shoots.

    Andrew,
I like this one better than your first. The longer cuts allow the viewers to get their bearings on what is going on.
However the the cuts need to line up with the audio a bit better. I feel like the same tacking shot is used over and over and simply cut when the rider past you. Try varying your shots, using pans, zooms, completely still shots (did see a few of these, good job here), close ups, long shots, etc.
Also, I'm a big fan of Metallica but don't think the music worked well with the footage.
I don't mean to be super critical here either, sometimes it easy to pick up on mistakes rather than successes. Good job, better than most homemade films.

I used the Hv30 I captured via HDMI with an intesity card to pro res 422 the output H.264.
As for linking the audio with the motion I wanted this to play in real time so you can see how fast they are moving! the next video I do will be time adjusted, in that video i can better link the audio and action.
