I find it interesting that you say not to read your slides, but in fact you do read them a number of times. Is it that it's so hard not to? Where is the line about when it's ok to read a few words and when it is not ok to read them? I'm exploring this myself, not knocking you.

Excellent point about pictures and circles. I'm still working through the video, and enjoying it.

There are exceptions to the "don't read your slides" rule. Quotes are OK. Key words from a text slide are OK too. Watch a Lawrence Lessig presentation.

He reads every single slide, but the slides usually have five or fewer words. He verbally adds many words making the presentation engaging.

There is no fine line. It is obvious when someone is reading most slides word for word and adding nothing extra. I consider my slides to be prompts to help me remember the words I want to say - an outline of my talk. It's not unusual to say the words you have in your outline. It's a lot different than reading everything from a teleprompter.

That's a fair statement, comparing reading an outline to reading a teleprompter.

I suppose I have a different take on things, as I really believe in the disparate natures of what the auditory senses process and what the visual senses process. I want them to be different, but complimentary. Not suggesting I never read a slide, but nonetheless, this has been an interesting line of thought. Thanks for engaging.

I'm 3/4 of the way done with your presentation now (slowly making way through as time permits) and I like the way you showed the password, and showed quick fades, and tricks like that. Nice.
