It was so awesome to have one of the 1% come and hypocritically join us. Maybe someday he'll let us use one of his 3 mansions to organize our efforts.

I'm so glad he's not a hypocrite at all. And neither are we for supporting a man worth $50 Million while we're protesting against the unfairness of wealth distribution.

Quit embracing this jackass. He's a total fake! He makes money off of our backs while he pretends to be one of us.

Boo him off the stage when he shows up! Otherwise we're just as big of hypocrites as he is.

Do you know how Michael Moore made all his money? It wasn't from Wall St. or politics or inheritance or a golden parachute. It was all from people voluntarily buying his movies and books. So speak for YOURSELF, not for anyone else, especially OWS protesters (which I doubt you have any affinity with). Don't like him or his movies or books? Then don't buy any. Would you feel the same way if Warren Buffet started visiting OWS sites? He's much wealthier and is on record stating - pleading - that his taxes be raised.

Gee, no, I had no idea how Michael Moore made his money. Thanks so much for clearing that up. So all the multi-millionaires that didn't inherit their money or make it from Wall Street are not part of the 1% even if they're super wealthy. Oh, and yes, I would feel the same way if Warren Buffet visited OwS sites. If he wants to pay more taxes, he's certainly free to do so. Nobody has to take deductions if they don't want. I will accept that Buffet and Moore aren't hypocrites if they opt to pay more taxes on their own.

I see that you're not actually interested in wealth distribution. You're only interested in your closed-minded opinion of the truth. Why don't you stand up for true wealth redistribution instead of just selecting the people you dislike. Rich liberals are just as bad as rich conservatives. You probably don't agree because you're more into your overall ideology than you are the principals of OWS. You're just as much of a hypocrite as the multi-millionaire Michael Moore.

Rich people are only unAmerican if Eyeful Power says they are. Wealthy types like Michael Moore, Warren Buffet, and the Hollywood types who talk big, but live bigger are just fine.

Thanks Eyeful, for clearing that up. You've done quite well in proving my original point.

Nice, but pathetic argument. Try again.

    Hi Mark,

It seems that more and more people are getting concerned with Michael's Moore economic situation, rather than his political activism or professional achievements.

Something like: "if he's so rich, what does he have to do here among us? He's nothing more than an hypocrite".

What immediately poses the question (at least in my mind):

    a) If you think that rich people have no right to join the social protest and OWS movement -as their actions are nothing more than a facade- and they are as unmoral as

    b) Rich people who calmly exploit others without returning anything to society,

What exactly is what you (and people who believe Moore has no right to speak on behalf on the 99%) demand from him, as a rich man, to do, so his deeds will be considered as valid ones? If he supports social movement is not ok, but is he doen't, that is wrong too?

From what you wrote it seems impossible for a rich man to have a social conscience and act accordingly.

Trying to understand the core of what you are saying, I think that perhaps what is bothering you is the connection between what Michael Moore is selling us from one side (his films and books) and his political activism on the other.

Something like "I'm Captain Justice, here, buy my last book" Is that what you mean?

Do you believe he is taking advantage from the social protest drive in order to increase the sales of his books and films?

In any case, I wanted you to read an article written by Moore related to similar claims as yours. I will be glad if you read it and we can keep discussing the issue here :)

Dammit, Nathalie. Why would you come up with an intelligent, likeable response where you actually question my points and don't include any hyperbole or hypocrisy. Why are you making me actually think???

Kudos to you and your excellent response. You are obviously quite a thinker and have an impressive intellect. I disagree with most of your points, but I have to tip my cap to the fact that you've forced me to defend my statement without anger or name-calling. I don't see that online enough.

I guess my biggest problem with Michael Moore is that he made a film about how bad capitalism is while cashing in on that film and making a few million off of it personally. Trashing capitalism while making millions is the definition of hypocrisy to me.

Also, your definition of "social justice" may be quite different from how others see it. I'm not going to put myself in a position where I have to defend the ridiculous bonuses these CEO thieves make. I'm not that stupid. I've been pissed off at them ever since I saw the thievery of the higher-ups in a company that I worked for (and made $9.50/hour, but happy to have a job). These guys ran the company into the ground and led it to bankruptcy within 3 years of taking it over. The last year I worked for them they borrowed $20 Million as the company lost $60 million. Then they voted themselves $20 million in bonuses for themselves. It makes me sick to think about it. But I haven't been convinced that the way to approach this is through legislating our opinion of justice. I've heard it said that capitalism is the worst form of economic policy in the world.... except for all the other ones. Government centric policies historically seem to always give way to the elites or totalitarian governments (Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il). It's the nature of the beast either way. I'd like to see us fight corporate greed with our own push for capitalism. Boycotts, information, getting the message out than legislate more and provide more power to the elites in government who I see (generally speaking) as just as bad as the corporate elites.

I also have an issue with Michael Moore as a filmmaker. I'm an actor. I'm a member of SAG and AFTRA. I've done 17 films and tv shows. I'm by no means hugely successful, but I do okay for a small-time thespian. I'm also a huge student of film and film history. My favorite type of films are documentaries. There are some amazing documentarians out there, but it's Michael Moore who gets award after award. In my opinion, Moore's films are sloppy and rely on too much editing. There is absolutely no balance to any of them. What Moore really is is a propagandist, not a documentarian. If you want to watch REAL, great documentaries, I'd be happy to recommend a few. My all time fav is "Brother's Keeper", fyi. If you haven't seen it, you need to.

Okay, there's my 2 cents. Thanks for the conversation and civil debate.

BTW, I've been in 2 films with an actress named Nathalie. That's not you, is it??? Just in case maybe you use a last name "stage name". The last film, I played a homeless man to Nathalie's rich, white bI7cH, lol.
